Glyn Moody

In this episode, I'm talking with Glyn Moody, a journalist, blogger and twitterer from the UK, who I caught up with at LinuxConfAu2010 last month in Wellington.   I ask him why a mathematician decided to become a writer.  How the Free Software movement has influenced the Creative Commons and his perspective on how this sphere of influence is spreading out into other areas like art, government and education.   We talk a bit about his book Rebel Code and the relevance of book writing today, and how blogs and micro-blogs fit into the writers arsenal.  He says twitter is the "release early, release often for thinking".  Toward the end he goes on a terrific rant against intellectual property and the anti-sharing sentiment that goes against all the other good stuff we talked about.   Lastly I ask him for his thoughts on the copyright issues and the black out campaign we witnessed in New Zealand a year ago, and the current issue we are facing with ACTA.   He has some great advice here, and inspired me to go pester my representatives about ACTA.
