Episode 16 Dr. John Clayton QR Codes

This is part two of my interview with Dr. John Clayton, manager of the Emerging Technology Centre at Wintec.

Some notes about what we talked about here:

QR Codes, what they are and how they are used in business and education.   Creating "trails" with coded information relevant to the location.   Using QR codes on maps.     Using QR code in industrial training, in external and internal "scapes".  Community/businesses can get involved with WINTEC research.  QR codes in quality assurance?  Location based services.   Location generated services and location generated content.   Engaging the community in technology research.    Understanding technology.    Access to computers is not the problem, it's getting people to use them for education.    Elearning is the smart use of technologies in education.    Blended learning.    Increase your teaching impact.   Social Media and Open Education... do they blend?   Social media is good for creating community, but how do we measure what is learned?   Learning Management Systems must evolve.   Tensions currently surrounding Open Educational Resources will resolve themselves in the near future.

Dr. Clayton will be giving a presentation for the New Zealand Computer Society and expanding on some of the topics he discussed here.  The event will be on 10th November at the Wintec HUB.   More information and registration here:
