Why moodle was a good fit for New Zealand Tertiary education. Background on how moodle was evaluated and adopted, and took off from there. Importance of good learning environments, analyzing them. What is eLearning? "Using technologies to improve learning." Using eLearning to help retain what is learned. "The traditional learning methods do not suit the modern world." "Use technologies to improve the educational system." The beauty of using Open Source solutions: allows people to create the environement that meets the needs of their students. What are digital objects? Assets and granules and the learning objective. The trend to reuse material. Part of a democratic society. Tense/transitional period about sharing and reusing material. Digital literacy. Everyone needs to be digitally literate.
